775 Gastropub

I love food...I mean I really LOVE food. There is nothing like finding a fun new place to try and anticipation of a great meal. Food can bring people together, comfort, and entertain us.

I was lucky enough to have a good friend recommend I try the 775 Gastropub. The place a great combination of an intimate little date night place with a pub feel. The menu had the same feel...bar food upgraded.

We started with a beer fondue which was surprisingly fun! Fondue to me can be a little boring but this wasn't too overpowering and delicate enough to eat with the apples they brought out to serve with it. We asked for more bread so we could finish every last bit of the fondue....just a tip.

The menu ranged from standard bar food such as burgers and fish and chips (which was served with the best mayo free bacon coleslaw i have ever had) to nicer dishes such as scallops or spanakopita. The menu providers many options for different people and tastes; plus they have weekly chef's specials which keeps everything new and fresh.

Overall I really liked it. Couldn't be happier that Reno has another local place to support and find a good meal. Going to be honest, the location is a little odd, but you don't feel it once inside. Check out their website at http://www.775gastropub.com/ .

The also do a beer dinner once a month where they pair beer to different course and teach you about it all as you go along. Something for next time maybe....

Home Decor Redesigned at Real Deals

Do you ever get overwhelmed by the magnitude of some chain home décor stores? Where do you start? Is there anyone here to help? Where can I just find a vase or a picture to fill an empty corner in a room?

Real Deals is a solution to those feeling. Located at 1445 South Meadows Parkway, #209, the outside of this boutique looks similar to a warehouse building, but not to worry, the gems are on the inside. You walk in and the friendly owners are there to greet you right away and inform you of their weekly specials, prizes, raffles, and give aways (there is always something going on when you go in).

From dazzling chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, to giant mirrors and pictures to your left, seasonal décor to your right, there is something for every room of your home. One of my favorite sections is the bathroom area that has shelves of organizational bins, to containers for soups or detergents, or little signs and mirrors and clothes pins to help transfer your chore room into a room you enjoy being in.

Real Deals is owned by two remarkable women who wanted to get out of the 9-5 rat race and have fun with their careers. Real Deals is only opened Thursday s and Saturdays for this reason. However, they also do events like decorating classes or  girls night out evenings. You can join their email list or call them to set these up. (775) 853-4303.

Go check it out and support this local boutique décor store! Let me know how you like it.

Best itanian food in town: Jonny's Ristorante Italiano

Want to know one of the best hidden gems for Italian food in Reno? Jonny's is like walking into a little Ristorante off a walkway in Italy. The bar serves an amazing cocktail and appetizer selection that is perfect for a night out without a lot of fuss. The dining room is big enough to hold a family dinner on a week night or romantic enough for a date night. None the less, the food is the main attraction!

Bolognese, polenta, veal piccata, the list goes on and on. And while you search through an overwhelming large menu on endless authentic dishes, the bread will help motive you to keep eating.

No matter what dish you decide for an entree, the dessert must be the cannnoli! It comes two to a plate, perfect for sharing, and you won't regret it.

Located at 4245 W. 4th street.

Make reservations at: (775) 747-4511. Jonny's can get kind of busy so I highly recommend making a reservation.

Any one have any thoughts?
